Kyoto Elopement – Nathan and Ashley

kyoto elopement, Kyoto Elopement – Nathan and Ashley

Why Elope in Kyoto?

Nathan and Ashley knew from the start they wanted something different for their wedding. The idea of being the centre of attention at a big, expensive event wasn’t their style. They dreamed instead of an intimate, adventurous day focused entirely on their love. That’s why they chose a Kyoto elopement. With its rich history, stunning Kyoto wedding photo locations, and peaceful atmosphere, it was the perfect place to celebrate their commitment. After researching on how to legally marry in Japan as foreigners with my help, including sorting their Kon-in Todoke, they planned a day perfectly tailored to their laid-back, joyful personalities.

Getting Ready for Their Kyoto Elopement

Their Kyoto elopement started in the gentle May sunshine, getting ready together in a cosy Kyoto Machiya. The mix of modern and traditional elements made it the perfect setting for their day. Nathan laughed recalling the first time he spoke to Ashley because she had a sticky sweet stuck to her shoe. Ashley playfully teased Nathan about his clever excuse to message her on Facebook. After a relaxed morning of jokes, hugs, and excitement, they shared a heartfelt first look, both emotional as their dream day became reality. As a Kyoto elopement photographer, moments like these are what make capturing love so rewarding.

A Private Ceremony at Nanzenji Tenju-an Gardens

Next, we hopped on a charming local train to the serene Nanzenji Tenju-an Gardens, one of the best Kyoto wedding photo locations. Their ceremony was a quiet, intimate exchange of vows in a private garden corner. There wasn’t a dry eye among us during this special moment. This truly felt like a traditional Japanese wedding in Kyoto, embracing the natural beauty of the gardens. The peaceful setting made it the perfect choice for couples who want to elope in Kyoto without distractions. Afterwards, we explored the area, capturing spontaneous moments of wonder and laughter, with Nathan and Ashley taking time to read some letters they recieved from friends and family congratulating them.

A Kyoto Micro Wedding Evening in Gion

Our day continued in Gion, taking in the vibrant atmosphere while strolling hand-in-hand through enchanting streets. The historic alleyways provided some of the most iconic Kyoto wedding photo locations, blending tradition with modern romance. Nathan and Ashley chose one of their favourite restaurants for dinner, reliving cherished memories created there over past visits. As evening approached, we visited the beautifully illuminated Yasaka Shrine for captivating night portraits. Nathan and Ashley’s Kyoto micro wedding was authentically them – adventurous, romantic, and perfectly intimate. Their choice to elope in Kyoto made for an unforgettable experience, filled with love, laughter, and the beauty of this incredible city. If you’re considering a Kyoto elopement, this day proves just how magical it can be.
