There are no words for the joy that James can bring to your day. My husband and I knew as soon as we were engaged that we wanted to build our elopement adventure with Who Shot the Photographer. Every step of the way, he is there to support your vision and was so flexible, through his relaxed nature and laid back humour he makes you and anyone you include in your day feel so at home. After having to unplan our elaborate overseas wedding in 2020 due to travel restrictions, we felt quite lost as to what our next wedding plans would be or look like. After reading through the Who Shot The Photographer website we realised that an elopement would be a beautiful way for us to officiate and honour our relationship in a way that is truly “us”.

We contacted James while still undecided on any details and James was incredibly helpful with the planning, he even offered vendor and location recommendations after getting to know us and our styles. The organising of the elopement was stress-free and we felt fully supported in all of our decisions – including one decision to postpone the wedding by a couple of months!

On the day of our elopement the first thing we noticed about James was his genuine and authentic energy, which instantly put us all at ease. He prompted us and our guests/witnesses with light-hearted questions about our day, relationship, and memories, which helped us all reconnect and remain present in the moment.

The weather didn’t quite hold out for us, and while we were umm-ing and ahh-ing about where to go next, James offered some ideas to guide us. He remained flexible the entire day which made us feel relaxed and we all just went with the flow.

The final photos perfectly captured our day, from the build up of anticipation, ecstatic smiles, to the chaotic wind, rain, and even a giggle behind a broken umbrella. James’ passion for his art reiterates that the memories and feelings from the day is what lives on, and the final photos capture all the feelings in a way that we couldn’t imagine with anyone else.

James was our first step in organising our elopement and honestly from that moment everything fell into place with his help. From the very outset James was adamant on helping create the day one that we wanted. Throughout the planning he was helpful and attentive to our wants for the day and overall the outcome was perfect. Absolutely! This is a core part of the service I provide for you! As soon as we get the ball rolling, you’ll receive a questionnaire to complete so that I can get the best idea of where you’d ideally love to elope! Then I’ll come back with some of the most awesome suggestions for yourselves.

The best way to understand what may suit you best would be to jump on a phone call with me, so I can get an excellent understanding of what your perfect day would look like. I want to find what package suits you best, and you can always add more time later down the line when we come to timeline planning too.

If you would love them to, then absolutely, yes! A big part of eloping is to have your day how you want, so as long as you would love other people there, they are more than welcome!

Absolutely 200% not at all. I have done many elopements with couples who are expecting, and because of my elopement planning process, this is something that I can consider when suggesting suitable locations.

Yes you would! Whilst many couples do love to include a hike as part of their elopement experience, the main thing is that you’re doing what you love and which suits you. I’ve done plenty of great elopements where couples have simply taken a quiet day at home, followed by a sunset ceremony up a local nature reserve (within easy drive).

Yes, children and doggos are most welcome! They are family after all! I curate your locations and day to ensure that everything will be suitable for whoever you’d love to bring. Whilst National Parks may limit dogs and other pets, I will be able to scout out other locations which would be suitable.

You can choose to hike in your wedding attire if you’d like to, and there’s never any pressure! However the good news is that there are great ways to fold up your wedding clothing neatly into your rucksack so that it isn’t damaged when arriving at your destination! I also have lots of recommendations for wedding dresses and suits which work best with eloping!

The beauty of eloping is taking Mother Nature at her face value. Sometimes it absolutely will end up raining, but the best news of all? You’ll have an awesome time. When it comes to logistics, you won’t be losing any sleep over this, as it isn’t uncommon for me to rework a timeline if it turns out a blizzard has rolled into town, or a local forest is on fire (2019 bushfires were a big learning curve for this)! If you want to see some galleries where couples have eloped in the rain, I’d be more than happy to share these!

This is a personal choice, and there are reasons why you would and wouldn’t want one. If you are wanting to share your vows at the top of a mountain after a 3 hour hike, very few celebrants would be happy to go on a journey this long. In this case, a courthouse legal wedding could be done beforehand, with vows being withheld for the spot you want to share your words. To be honest, the most important part of an elopement are the vows that you’ll share together! However if you would love to have everything done on the day, and have a spot that isn’t too far from the main road, then a celebrant may be better for you!

Nope. Whilst I understand that some elopements can be short and sweet, I believe that offering you a more complete service to honour your story is what I’m best at. This is why my minimum coverage is 2 hours.
