I have a real soft spot for the Blue Mountains, one of Australia’s most incredible ranges. It’s no surprise that the Blue Mountains are also one of Australia’s prime elopement locations, with the aptly named blue haze blanketing the valley, and providing an epic array of vast landscapes. The perfect backdrop and location to any elopement.
Katie and Trevor got in touch with me all the way from Wisconsin, America (go Packers)! We originally chatted about a few different locations they might enjoy, but the Blue Mountains soon became a favourite of theirs, and I got to planning.
As they’d travelled such a long distance, Katie and Trevor wanted a day that made the most of the sights and sounds of the Blue Mountains. Renting a gorgeous wooden lodge AirBNB, we started the day off by wandering around some of the amazing waterfalls in the Blue Mountains. One of the best parts of eloping is that you can take the time to explore the location you’re in, rather than just being confined to one spot.
We then headed over to Katoomba for some lunch, before hanging back at their cosy cabin, and starting the getting ready process.
Katie and Trevor loved the idea of a first look, so we ended up with having Katie getting ready upstairs, whilst Trevor got himself all sorted downstairs. Sometimes couples wonder if first looks work when the couple are getting ready at the same location, but they are super easy to arrange!
We had Trevor waiting outside, looking at the stunning scenery, whilst Katie came up behind him and surprised him with how kick-ass she looked.
We then headed out to Lincoln’s Rock for their sunset elopement!
Sometimes in Australia I get to meet the couples I work with. However there are many times that I don’t before the big day. It was amazing actually meeting Katie and Trevor for the first time to see that they were real people. It was especially fun teaching them some Australian lingo as well.
I really vibed with Katie and Trevor’s laid back sense of humour, and you could tell just how much they mean to each other with the ceremony and how they wanted to have their day.
My favourite part of the day would have been hands down the sunset session we had for couples portraits. There are few places which give such an epic view as the Blue Mountains. Especially with the insane heights (don’t fret people, everything is 100% consensual in these images!) around Lincoln’s Rock.
I hope you enjoy these awesome images from Katie and Trevor’s elopement!
This elopement was also published in the Mountain Bride!
