I want to give you an insight into some Ibiza Wedding Ideas I’ve had. Ibiza is known as the ‘white island’, which is based on the coast of Spain and is most well known for it’s a party atmosphere. Still, also it’s a bohemian lifestyle and aesthetic.
Ibiza has a long and exciting history. Still, it’s most significant recent changes have been its popularity with the bohemian and hippy lifestyle in the ’60s and ’70s. This has led to a real presence of a carefree lifestyle being part of the island’s heritage. It’s also why so many people flock there for the clubbing and parties which are held there.
However, there is much more than meets the eye to Ibiza.
It’s always worth venturing out of the tourist traps that are San Antonio, and Playa Den Bossa. You’ll come across the real richness of Ibiza’s artsy landscape and small country towns.
Towns like Santa Gertrudis emanate what Ibiza is really about. Sitting down at a local cafe with a morning coffee or cold beer, while eating Iberico ham, and feeling the days pass by. Towns like this are littered with restaurants full of personality and style.
Ibiza Wedding Ideas
So why am I telling you about all of this? Well, I want to paint the scene before I give you an idea of what you can do for your wedding in Ibiza.
On my most recent trip to Ibiza, I’ve captured a range of images which paint the landscape how I see it. From the urban sprawls of the old Ibiza Town, right to the stunning crystal clear beaches of Formentera, Ibiza’s sister island to the south. I was travelling around Ibiza for a holiday, and also a little reward for capturing a stunning wedding out in the UK.
An Ibiza Wedding may be perfect for a bohemian and wild-at-heart couple who want to be surrounded by epic views, great weather, and the best food in Europe. Ibiza is uniquely well suited for couples who love the idea of lazing in the sun, but also exploring stunning landscapes and plenty of markets. Hippies need not apply.
In the images below, you’ll see a few different places and landscapes which paint the perfect backdrop for your wedding; to note in particular is the stunning Ibiza Hacienda Hotel. Forgot anywhere else on the island, this is the ideal wedding venue for you if you love nothing but luxury. It’s distinctive cliffside pool, and spa can’t be missed.
My other top recommendations are:
Excursions and activities:
- Take a trip to Formentera – Formentera is Ibiza’s sister island just to the south of it. Laced with crystal clear blue waters, it’s got to be on your radar if you’re the sort of couple who enjoy renting bikes and exploring an island in a day.
- The Aquamar Waterpark – You’re never too old to enjoy a waterpark, and Ibiza’s Aquamar is a heck of a lot of fun if it’s your sort of jam. I personally am a massive fan of the Black Hole.
- Pacha Nightclub – When in Rome, do as the Roman’s do. So why not go and have a good time and a nightclub one evening. Great for couples who love dance, and Pacha is my personal favourite because of it’s proximity to Ibiza Town.
Drink:
- Raco Verde in San Josep – Great fruit juice drinks and atmosphere.
- Cala Conte – Perfect for sunsets, this beach bar is built into the side of a massive rock formation.
- Bar Llumbi – You can’t beat the views here, especially with a good drink in your hands.
Food:
- Nagai – The absolute best sushi in Ibiza hands down. Stylish AF and out in the wilderness for that intimate country feel.
- Es Caliu – If you’re a meat-eater, then look no further. The absolute best meat in Ibiza. I recommend the Ox, which comes out on a sizzling plate for you to cook yourself with rock salt.
- El Rincon De Pepe – Spanish Tapas at it’s best. A vast range, and offers street-based eating to give you that awesome Al Fresco feel.
Ibiza Elopements – The Perfect Spanish Destination Wedding
Ibiza provides the perfect backdrop for an exotic elopement abroad. Especially if you’re looking for an adventure that is personal and exciting. Ibiza elopements are well suited to couples who love the idea of getting away and having a relaxing and bohemian experience abroad.
An example Ibiza Elopement timeline
When creating elopements and destination weddings for couples, I love to spend the time really understanding what they love about the location, and what they’d ultimately like to feel on the day. Here is an example of how your Ibiza Elopement could go (using August hours as a good basis):
10:00-11:00am: Breakfast at Raco Verde in San Josep
11:00-2:00pm: Countryside drive around the island, stopping in at beach-based bars on the way
2:00-5:00pm: Siesta
5:00pm: Getting ready
7:00pm: Leave for Es Vedra
7:15pm: Arrive at Es Vedra and walk to Ceremony Site
7:30-8:00pm: Sunset ceremony at Es Vedra
8:00-9:00pm: Sunset images around Es Vedra
10pm: Dinner at Nagai for sushi and champagne
