dark, cinematic editing.

My editing is film-inspired – earthy, rich, and true-to-memory. Not bright and airy, not over-processed. The edit should feel like the day actually felt.

I know Canberra’s venues and I’ll use that knowledge on your day.

I’ve photographed weddings at Gold Creek Station, Poachers Pantry, The Boathouse Barton, Gorman Arts Centre, Old Stone House, the National Arboretum, The Marion, Tallagandra Hill Winery, Ginninderry Homestead, The Rex Hotel, and many others across Canberra and surrounds. I know which spots catch the light, which angles work in every season, and what each venue looks like at its best.

If you want to know specifically what I know about your venue, ask me. I’m happy to walk you through it before you book.

A WORK OF ART ON OUR WALLS.
★★★★★

“Cannot thank James enough for being the most incredible photographer. The art James produces with his photography is astounding. His prints of photos are also of the highest quality and look amazing on our walls. During our wedding we love that we barely noticed him, he wasn’t in the way of us or our guests, yet manages to capture the most amazing shots. We love how James captures the landscape in photos besides our emotions and love.”

your questions answered by me.

You’re naturally going to have a few questions about the whole process. I’m here to give you an answer to anything you’re wondering about.

The best way to understand what may suit you best would be to jump on a phone call with me, so I can get an excellent understanding of what your perfect day would look like. I want to find what package suits you best, and you can always add more time later down the line when we come to timeline planning too.

200% yes, yes, and yes again! I’d say roughly 95% of couples I work with say something along the lines of “we feel awkward in front of the camera”, or “we don’t like having our photo taken”.

You have nothing to worry about; my whole approach is to create a comfortable and fun environment, where you’ll be focusing on each other rather than a camera in your face.

Yes, children and doggos are most welcome! They are family, after all! I plan your locations and day to ensure that everything will be suitable for whomever you’d love to bring.

As part of the check in I have with you on your big day, we go through what your plan B will be in case it rains. In 95% of circumstances, a simple see through umbrella (which I supply) will sort you both out just fine, but if more work is required, I’ll scout out other locations which would be suitable for you both!

However, in 100% of circumstances where it rains, couples always have a blast, so don’t let the rain get you down!

Not for a wedding, sorry. I believe a fuller day is what lets me tell your story properly, which is why my wedding packages start at six hours. If you’re planning something really small, like just the two of you and a celebrant, have a look at my elopement packages, which start at four hours.

No, every wedding is shot and edited by me alone, one consistent eye across your whole gallery.

Unfortunately not. I aim to provide the best possible service and story for the couples I work with, capturing a good balance of candid imagery and guests having a blast. Because of this, my maximum number of people at a wedding I’d capture is 150.

Awesome questions! I truly believe, first that the most important thing about the day you get married, is that it is a day that authentically reflects you. This means that you’re getting the experience to start your marriage off that is authentically ‘you.’ Elopements are really wonderful for couples who don’t gel with the pressures sometimes faced with traditional weddings. If you’d like to read more, have a look at my elopement page. There is no wrong or right way to get married, so long as you have the day that you truly want.
