A Bush Wedding is perfect for you if you’re looking for a way to have a wedding which authentically represents you, and gives you that sense of adventure.
Why this bush wedding was styled
This session set out to show how stylish and beautiful a bush wedding can be, out at one of Canberra’s most stunning parks, Yankee Hat Walking Trail.
Far too often, I meet couples who feel like they need to be spending tens of thousands of dollars on a venue just to have their dream ceremony. I created this session to show you just how awesome nature can be as a backdrop.
I feel like it’s essential to showcase the idea of a nature-based bush wedding and ceremony so that brides and grooms can see this as an alternative to a massive venue with lots of expenses.
Where this bush wedding was captured
This styled session was set up and captured at the Yankee Hat Walking Trail. The remarkable thing about areas like this is that it’s only a short walk from the car park. This means that if you did want to have friends and family come along, it isn’t too much of a struggle to get to a perfect site for a bush wedding based ceremony.
When having a ceremony in a National Park, please contact the rangers and park staff, so that they are aware of the ceremony. Make sure to check that any permits required have been obtained. Also to follow the Leave No Trace rules so minimise the impact on the park, especially if a small crowd may be coming out.
Who was behind this styled bush wedding
A passionate team of creatives were involved in this project, with Ashleigh wearing a stunning wedding dress by local Canberran dress designer Naomi Peris. Naomi stands out in the Canberra wedding dress space with her unique designs, and attention to detail when it comes to creating your own dress.
Lilah and Emi shaped the hair and makeup, respectively, and I think their hard work and skill speaks for itself.
My favourite part of this styled bush wedding was when I finally was there with the team, and the whole idea came together. I frequently see so many stunning locations out in nature and hear so often of couples who felt their marriage was railroaded into being a lot bigger than they wanted it to be. Bush weddings are a great way to have a smaller, more intimate, and more meaningful experience.
