Blue Mountains Elopement Photographer
Elopements are becoming a more common option for couples who don’t want the stress that a traditional wedding brings. Elopements offer less stress, and a more authentic experience for couples who want to celebrate themselves with an adventure, rather than buying lots of things for one day, which are quickly forgotten. You can have an intimate ceremony together, with gorgeous vistas, and then have a party at home to celebrate your marriage with your friends and close family.

Other elopement destinations: (see my list of 50+ elopement locations here)
Having photographed elopements in adventurous locations around the world, I always have a soft spot for the Blue Mountains, and it’s incredibly lush backdrop and views.
The Blue Mountains are one of the top elopement destinations in Australia, and it’s easy to see why.
You can also view what an elopement with myself looks like in the Blue Mountains, and anywhere!
Why would a Blue Mountains elopement be perfect for us?
The Blue Mountains are perfect for couples who love the idea of getting married with mountainous backdrops, waterfalls, and lush forest. If you’re the sort of couple who spend their time out in nature and prefer to have a more intimate ceremony, then a Blue Mountains elopement would be perfect for you.

Elopement checklist
- Both of you
- A celebrant. Bonus points if they are happy to go a little bit off the beaten path. Note that you can also alternatively get the paperwork signed at a registry office and have your ‘unofficial ceremony’ out in the wild.
- Two witnesses (the great news is that I’m happy to be one, and you can usually convince your florist or makeup artist to be one).
- Having flowers always adds a nice touch to the proceedings. I personally recommend The Little Flower Shop, and Botanical Art.
- There are wedding planners that specialize in elopements: Pink Caviar Events.
- When it comes to time of day, sunset or sunrise work best. Talk to me about finding what locations may suit the time of day best.
- Make sure you bring along some champagne and some tasty treats to celebrate!

Where to elope in the Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains are one of the top elopement destinations in Australia, and it shows. There are a tonne of different and gorgeous venues and nature locations both around the cliff faces, and in the lush valleys there.
Here are the top elopement locations for you to have a small wedding at:
Blue Mountains Elopement Locations
Here are a small selection of the best places to elope in the Blue Mountains, ranging from vast mountain backdrops, to intimate waterfall adventures. As part of my elopement photography and guide process however, I dig much deeper into finding places that would suit you both personally!
So here are my top 5 places to elope in the Blue Mountains:
Lincolns’ Rock
The Blue Mountain’s Iconic Lookout, featuring huge white flat rocks and a vast view of the Blue Mountains. The flatness of this area provides a perfect location for an elopement, with lots of great rocks and smaller paths to offer more intimate views.
Be aware that whilst Lincoln’s Rock is a gorgeous place, it can get incredibly busy around sunset. Especially as the weekends, you might find that you’re not the only couple going there.

Jenolan Caves
If you’ve wanted to get married in an atmospheric cave, Jenolan caves are perfect for you. Don’t miss out on the Blue Lake filled with Platypus, or going caving at Rocky Creek.
Heads up; you’ll need to go on a tour to get access to it, but the tour operators are used to couples enjoying this spot so it should be ok!

Boars Head Lookout
This lookout provides great views across the blue mountains forests, but when you go around the railing a little bit, you’ll find even more unique rocks and lookouts which provide the perfect spot for those dreamy sunset photos.

Pool Of Siloam
As seen in the elopement trailer above, the Pool Of Siloam (yep, don’t worry, nobody quite knows how to say it) is a very special place for anyone who wants to elope in the Blue Mountains.
The trail leads you through mountain forests, through to some epic views out across the Blue Mountains, and down a staircase to the stunning Pool Of Siloam.
At the bottom, you’ll find a waterfall, interesting stone steps, and the perfect place to slip your hiking shoes off and have a dip. The space has a really awesome feel to it,so this is perfect for the couple who want something accessible, fun and incredibly scenic for their Blue Mountain elopement.

South Lawson Waterfall Walking Track
This dog-friendly waterfall walk is just outside of the Blue Mountains but has a heap of fun waterfall and forests spots within it.
You’ll start out by descending down into the forest, and be greeted with some tight-knit trails full of lush Australian forests, complete with running stream and gorgeous bouldered outcrops.
The bonus for this track is that dogs are allowed along it as well, so if you want to bring your furry friend, then this is the spot for your Blue Mountains elopement.

Empress Falls
If you love epic waterfalls and a real adventure, then the trek down to Empress Falls may be perfect for your Blue Mountains Elopement.
Whilst the walk does take roughly an hour down, and several flights of stairs, you’ll be treated to some of the best views in the Blue Mountains, and you’ll end up down at Empress Falls; this massive waterfall is absolutely breathtaking and the perfect backdrop for any couple who love the idea of eloping the Blue Mountains surrounded by waterfalls and lush forests.
If you have time as well, I highly recommend the Blue Mountains Canyoning adventure which will take you down the falls themselves.
